વચનામૃત વિશે About the Vachanāmrut

The Vachanāmrut is a compilation of 273 spiritual discourses delivered by Bhagwān Swāminārāyan between 21 November 1819 and 25 July 1829. Over this decade, his senior paramhansas recorded nearly 2,000 sermons, ultimately selecting 262 discourses as canonical (with 11 additional discourses accepted by the Ahmedabad diocese).

Swāminārāyan himself reviewed and approved the final compilation. He specifically instructed Muktānand Swāmi to record the precise date of each discourse and the name of every questioner — a level of historical detail that makes the Vachanāmrut singularly well-documented among Hindu scriptures.

વચનામૃત એટલે ભગવાન શ્રીસ્વામિનારાયણે તા. ૨૧ નવેમ્બર ૧૮૧૯ થી ૨૫ જુલાઈ ૧૮૨૯ દરમિયાન આપેલા ૨૭૩ આધ્યાત્મિક પ્રવચનોનો સંગ્રહ છે. આ દાયકા દરમિયાન વરિષ્ઠ પરમહંસોએ આશરે ૨,૦૦૦ પ્રવચનો નોંધ્યાં, જેમાંથી ૨૬૨ વચનામૃત માન્ય ગણાય છે (અમદાવાદ ગાદી અનુસાર બીજાં ૧૧ પણ સ્વીકૃત છે).

શ્રીજીમહારાજે પોતે અંતિમ સંગ્રહનું પુનરાવલોકન કરી મંજૂરી આપી. તેમણે મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને દરેક પ્રવચનની ચોક્કસ તારીખ અને દરેક પ્રશ્નકર્તાનું નામ નોંધવાની વિશેષ સૂચના આપી — આ વિગતવાર ઐતિહાસિક નોંધણી હિંદુ શાસ્ત્રોમાં અપ્રતિમ છે.
